(Wishing I knew enough about ceramics to give an advanced critique. Please forgive...)

The first thing that popped into my mind was "As in Hermes? Like the guy with winged shoes?" And then the loveliness of the piece took over and I gaped like a fish. Beautiful work, and thanks for sharing!

(Also off to look at the source of your inspiration.)

Stunning! I love how you crafted the wings - it shows great eye for detail!

The glaze is a great enhancement the fantastic overall effect of the vessel. Great job and keep it up!

I think a lot of your work would translate well into clay...but next time I'll ask first before I blatantly steal any more of your ideas.

don't worry about that - you gave me the credit and that's ok
funny thing you know... when I do most of my works I think of making sculptures also so I have a pretty big list of things to do

Perhaps subconsciously, but I was really combining some different elements from other pieces and ideas that I'd tried previously.

this is gorgeous O.O

the decoration on the lid actually reminded me of "snitch", the winged ball used during Quidditch, from the Harry Potter series. maybe I've just been looking at too much HP fan art on dA x_O I do see your inspiration though...

anyway, I love the whimsy of it, combined with the sexy form of the vase. and that golden glaze, there are no words for it.

I thought those wings looked familiar ;P lovely elegant shape. May I ask what is gunmetal clay?
Reply
:iconrhodespottery:

A bad grammar choice. I meant that "Gunmetal" is the color the clay turns when fumed and then reduced. Sorry for the confusion.

oh, right that was silly of me :P
so, the body of the pot is all the one glaze and the "Gunmetal" sections are the result of the raku firing?
