I love that color.....the crackle adds a very desirable aged effect.

I believe in God the Father, Son and Holy Ghost, and if you don't like that, F**k off, I don't go around trying to convert people, so leave me in peace.

I can never get my raku's to turn out that good! Very beautiful piece. I love the bit around the lip of the lid.

When I do a crackle piece, I take it out of the kiln at about 1850 degrees (I think...I judge the glaze by eye) and let it sit out in the open air for about two minutes or until I actually hear it start to crackle. Then I stick it in a garbage can with lots of newspaper. For this piece, it's plain old white crackle glaze, but while it's sitting out, I spray it with Ferric Chloride--a chemical that's used to etch circuit boards...really dangerous stuff and should be used only with protective gear, goggles, mask etc., but gives it a nice red-gold color.

I do the rim decoration with a pencil while the clay's still wet.
