When I pull them out of the kiln, they're about 1850 degrees F. I put them in garbage cans filled with newspaper. The carbon released by the burning newspaper bonds to the bare clay. Cheers, Jerry Nice work with the white crackle! I've known some people to spray their pieces with water straight after taking them out of the kiln was this what you did?
The white crackle and black glazes go very nicely with the porcupine quills but the crescent moon shape gets a bit lost, maybe its just because of the dark background. Awesome work as always -- Life is uncertain, have dessert first! ok, so it's the raku that does the black. Thanks for teaching me something!
