how do you blacken your clay? is it "black clay" or do you add something to it? I've tried putting iron oxide into clay and it didn't do much...

I Raku [link] fire all my pieces. When I pull them out of the kiln, they're about 1850 degrees F. I put them in garbage cans filled with newspaper. The carbon released by the burning newspaper bonds to the bare clay. The black areas on my pottery have no glaze.

gorgeous.....absolutely. the little bit of raku work i've done was with a copper glaze....wish i'd gotten a chance to experiment more

Nice work with the white crackle! I've known some people to spray their pieces with water straight after taking them out of the kiln was this what you did?
The white crackle and black glazes go very nicely with the porcupine quills but the crescent moon shape gets a bit lost, maybe its just because of the dark background. Awesome work as always :D
